Gardena High School Shooting: 2 People Shot

Two students were shot Tuesday at Gardena High School when a classmate's gun went off. The weapon was in his backpack and it reportedly fired when he put the bag on his desk. A girl was shot in the head and a boy was hit in the neck.

Police interviewed the suspect and his mother for a couple of hours and both were cooperating. Hayes says the boy expressed remorse and his mother was concerned about the two victims.

UPDATE: The Los Angeles Times reports the student involved in that shooting at Gardena High School is holed up in a classroom at the campus. LAUSD spokesman Robert Alaniz tells CBS2 the student brought a gun to the school in a backpack, and the weapon may have discharged accidentally.

Dr. James Ausman of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center said the bullet entered and exited the left side of the female student's head. He said the bullet did not go through her skull, but "caused a skull fracture, and what we call some bruising or contusion of the underlying brain on the left side."

Cynthia Cano, 15, said she was in a Mexican-American social studies class when an announcement was made that the school was in lockdown.

"We heard someone got shot. Everyone was freaking out a little,'' she said in a telephone interview from inside the campus.

Tibbs, a student, said that much remained to be done to Gardena High safer.

“This school is crazy,” she said. “It’s too much. Frankly, we were searching all the time. There are a couple of students here who come here with guns”.

After 40 years in the business, 'Live With Regis and Kelly' host Regis Philbin is retiring from morning television. The 79-year-old host announced the news on Tuesday's episode of his hit show, stating that he will leave the program sometime in late summer, although his exact end date has not been specified.

But Regis leaving his job won't be the only big change coming to mornings. Starbucks has announced they'll introduce the "Trenta" size for their iced coffees and iced teas. After a day of lengthy testimony in a Beverly Hills courtroom, on Tuesday afternoon, Judge Marsha N. Revel determined that the Mean Girls star was in violation of her probation and sentenced the scandal-scarred starlet to 90 days in the Los Angeles County Jail.

The star will also spend 90 days in an inpatient substance abuse program.

Today’s hearing stemmed from Lohan’s 2007 collar on drunken driving and cocaine possession charges. The actress spent 84 minutes in jail that year as part of a plea bargain and was given three years probation. Judge Revel remarked that a court order sentencing Lohan to weekly alcohol education meeting was made very clear to the star — adding that Lindsay did not adhere to the terms of her probation. The angry judge bellowed that she would not accept excuses for Lohan’s lack of compliance.

She knew [the prosecutor] would be asking for jail time and yet still after all that, she didn’t comply with the court order and the court does find her in violation of her probation,” Revel said at today’s probation violating hearing.

Lohan, who turned 24 on Friday, dressed demurely in a black top and dark pants, listened as an official from her alcohol education program testified that the once promising movie star sent in excuses for missing her court-ordered classes that ranged from the death of her uncle (whose funeral she did not attend) to being stuck in North Carolina.

“I believe she had nine absences altogether” between December 2009 and July 2010, Cheryl Marshall co-owner of the Right On program testified at today’s probation violation hearing.

An emotional Lindsay cried as Judge Revel sent down her ruling.

“I wasn’t expecting any special treatment, except that I have to prove for myself,” Lindsay said between sobs. “I did do everything that I was told to do and did… I’m not taking this as a joke, this is my life and my career… It did wake me up, it scared me.”

Lohan has been ordered to surrender by 8:30AM on July 20. She will be allowed to remove her SCRAM alcohol-monitoring device at that time.

Sad — but this is the kind of thing that happens when we mere mortals develop a “Jesus Complex” and forget that rules apply to everyone. Here’s to hoping Lindsay gets the help she needs. A Beverly Hills judge Tuesday sentenced Lindsay Lohan to 90 days in jail for repeatedly violating the terms of her probation, ignoring the actress' tearful pleas for one more chance.

In a dramatic courtroom showdown, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Marsha N. Revel listened as Lohan promised to do better and defended her failure to attend weekly alcohol education classes and follow earlier orders by the judge.

But Revel was having none if it, offering a list of instances in which the actress lied to the court and to authorities. Revel handed down three 30-day sentences and also ordered her to spend 90 days in a locked-down drug rehabilitation facility — a much stiffer penalty than L.A. prosecutors had sought.

"There were a number of instances of [Lohan] not taking things seriously," Revel said. "It's like someone who cheats but doesn't think it's cheating if they don't get caught."

The case stems from two drunk-driving arrests in 2007. Lohan has repeatedly failed to follow the terms of her probation in the case — including earlier this year when she failed to appear for a mandatory court appearance in Beverly Hills. Photos surfaced of her partying at the Cannes International Film Festival at the time, angering the judge. Lohan maintained that she could not attend because someone had stolen her passport.

Revel said Lohan has repeatedly refused to admit her culpability, twice telling authorities that someone else was driving the vehicles involved in drunk driving accidents.

The judge said Lohan lied again when a white substance was found in her pants, claiming the pants belonged to someone else. Revel said she tested positive for cocaine after the arrest, and the pants turned out to be "her favorite pants."

"She lied then and lied prior to that," Revel added.

Lohan surprised the courtroom by asking to address the judge directly before sentencing.

"As far as I knew I was in compliance with my programs," Lohan said, fighting back tears.

"I wasn't trying to get special treatment," she added. "I have to provide for myself. I have to work. Having said that, I did everything to balance my jobs and showing up. I'm not taking this as a joke. It's my life. It's my career. … I take responsibility for my actions. I've tried to do the best I can. It's been such a long haul. … I don't want you to think that I don't respect you."

Lohan is scheduled to surrender to authorities July 20 and will be housed at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, in a wing that is separate from the rest of the jail population.

She is expected to serve only a fraction of the 90 days because of severe jail overcrowding.

Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said department officials could not say exactly how much time Lohan would serve but noted that most nonviolent female offenders serve one-quarter or less of their sentences. That calculation is based on factors that include credit for good behavior and crowd levels when she shows up for jail.

In 2007, hotel heiress and reality TV star Paris Hilton generated national headlines when she was released from custody after less than four full days in the Lynwood jail, despite a promise by the L.A. County Sheriff's Department that she would serve 23 days of a 45-day sentence. She was eventually sent back to jail to finish the sentence.

Lohan's defense attorney urged the judge to focus on what the actress has accomplished, not just on her failures.

Defense attorney Shawn Chapman Holley told the court that Lohan had complied with most of the court's orders and was "absolutely on track to finish" the alcohol education program by the July 15 deadline.

"She's gotten it together" Chapman Holley said

But Deputy Dist. Atty. Danette Myers argued that Lohan clearly ignored the court's December 2009 directive by not attending each week of the classes.

"Not once, but seven times she has not complied with this court's orders," Myers said.

During the hearing Tuesday, Revel repeatedly asked program operator Cheryl Marshall why she had failed to report Lohan's absences to the court before the actress had her bail revoked.

Under questions from the prosecutor, Marshall told the court that Lohan did not sign in on some days the program claimed she had attended and that her signature was on a sign-in sheet on a day she did not attend.

Then, last month, the alarm on Lohan's alcohol-monitoring device was triggered on the same night that Lohan attended the MTV Music Awards. Lohan claimed the monitor went off by mistake, while prosecutors said she had been drinking.

Despite Lindsay Lohan's emotional display upon hearing her sentence in court today, she might take some comfort in a report from the LA Times noting that in all likelihood, she will only serve a small fraction of the 90 days. From the Times:

Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said women sent to jail for nonviolent crimes generally serve 25% or less of their sentence due to overcrowding.

During my time watching Major League Baseball, I have seen delays based on weather/stadium malfunctions/and even a couple random stupid acts portrayed by fans.

However, this is no laughing matter, during tonight's Texas Rangers/Cleveland Indians affair in Texas, Nelson Cruz of the Rangers hit a foul ball into the second deck of the stadium and sent a fan who tried to catch it tumbling into the lower level.

A fan reaching out from the upper deck for a foul ball at Rangers Ballpark fell to the section below and was injured in the fifth inning of the Texas Rangers-Cleveland Indians game tonight.

The game was delayed for a little more than 15 minutes as emergency crews attended to the fallen spectator.

A witness said the fan was just below the club level, leaned back to catch the carom, went over the railing, tried to catch himself on the lower suite level and flipped backward onto the seats about 30 feet below.

Fox Sports Southwest, which was broadcasting the game, reported that the fan had been taken to John Peter Smith Hospital. Fox Sports said four other fans were injured and were being treated at the stadium.

A man in the first row of the upper deck was reaching for a foul ball when he lost his balance and toppled over the edge, a drop of about 30 feet.

Emergency personnel rushed to the area and the man was carried off in a stretcher, although at this time his injuries don’t appear to be life threatening. Four others were injured in the incident.

“Clearly, our team and our fans are deeply concerned,” the Rangers said in a statement. “We are prayerful and hopeful for his well-being and the others who were injured in this incident.”

The tension between Whitney Port and Roxy Olin on “The City” has been building for quite a while and last week it hit an all-time high.

After Roxy successfully placed a Whitney Eve jacket on Canadian singer Lights, all seemed to be OK. That was until the performer apparently pulled the jacket off and threw it to the ground just moments after hitting the stage. By the way, according to our readers who attended the performance, Lights kept the jacket on for about half her set! Nevertheless, Whitney blamed Roxy, yet we’re unsure how Roxy could have avoided that. Later at home, the two argued over the incident and Whitney suggested that living and working together was no longer good for their relationship.

In Tuesday’s episode, Roxy takes to the streets for apartments, but realizes the harsh truth about living alone in the city. It’s way too expensive for a current PR Girl who's in-between careers. His victims included kids he fathered through incest. In a primetime special called "Family Secrets," the stories of the surviving Wesson family members, including Wesson's now ex-wife Elizabeth will be told.

Elizabeth Wesson's divorce became final two months ago. She says that was a symbolic closure for her. Marcus Wesson was a controlling part of her life since she was 8-years-old.

Her family's story is the focus of an hour-long special about how she and her children survived decades of mind control and how they are moving forward now.

Elizabeth Wesson says she didn't even begin to see the deep scars her former husband left on her and her children until several years after the horrific crime. "It feels like I'm coming out of a fog or something. It's taken me time to get where I'm at, it really has."

Tuesday night Elizabeth and her five surviving children share the pain they endured under the constant control of convicted killer Marcus Wesson.

Elizabeth says her family opened up and spoke candidly with correspondent Jay Schadler about what they did to cope with extreme physical and sexual abuse. "This is the first time ever they verbally expressed what they were going through. And it's gonna be hard for me to watch. Very hard."

The twisted life the family led under Wesson's domination came to a halt in March of 2004 when Fresno Police arrived at a domestic dispute at the family's Central Fresno home. After a brief standoff officers walked in to find nine bodies piled in a corner, all shot to death.

The murders ended a family secret the group hid for years. A life of beatings, insults and incest. Even today, sharing the way they existed is difficult.

"The questions, I wasn't prepared for the questions that they were asking you know I tried to answer as honestly as I could and it brought back a lot of memories that I really don't want to remember really."

As part of the story, the family returned to places they lived with Wesson ... Like Tomales Bay in Northern California. Although the family almost always lived together, they were isolated from the world. The journey reminded Elizabeth of the emotional scars her children will always carry.

"Seeing the pain on my children's faces. Because after we did the filming it took us about a week or two to get over that. Because it's really painful."

The first Fresno Police officer who arrived at the scene that day also talked about his experience. Eloy Escareno was the first to enter the home and confirm what other family members had already assumed.

During the drama-filled interview, the two tackled heated topics surrounding their highly-publicized split, while also exposing new tidbits of their relationship.

Pavelka, 32, reconfirmed his anger about how Girardi, 24, sold her story to Star magazine, while also claiming that he endured constant undermining from Girardi during their relationship.

"She's like a tabloid. You get 40 percent of the truth," Pavelka said.

However, Girardi was quick to jump to defense by citing "emotional abuse" and repeatedly accused Pavelka of being the "biggest fake liar ever."

"My impression was that you were a pilot and we were going to go back to Florida and Dallas and live a normal life. Instead, we're in L.A. and you're pursuing a career in acting," Girardi said.

In the end, the interview was dramatically cut short and, not surprisingly, provided zero resolution. Girardi stormed off the set in tears after Pavelka lost his cool and sternly scolded Girardi to stop interrupting him.

"Unfortunately, that is what one of our arguments looks like," Pavelka said smugly. "It's kind of embarrassing."

Over many years, Waters interviewed Van Houten -- impisoned since 1969 for her role in two Manson family murders -- and wrote about those conversations in his book, while supporting her release. Young was taken under the wings of the late Steve McNair, going all the way back to attending his football camp when he was a youngster.

July 4th will mark the one year anniversary of when he was shot and killed by his girlfriend, who proceeded to turn the gun on herself after shooting Steve, committing suicide.

"I'm gonna go out to Mama Mac's house,'' Young was quoted in the Tennessean. "I'm gonna go out there and spend the weekend with Mama Mac in Mississippi."

"It's the one-year anniversary for Steve not being here. It's gonna be a sad moment, but we're gonna eat some barbecue and celebrate the life of Steve McNair, the things he put in my life and his family's life.''

A grand jury agreed not to reopen the case earlier this month. McNair took the Titans to their only Superbowl appearance in the history of the team, which they lost to the Rams.

With five awards for "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," zilch for "Avatar," visually insane dance numbers, gut-busting parodies and so much more, the 2010 MTV Movie Awards made for a wildly hilarious, frequently emotional and shockingly vulgar night.

The evening kicked off with media mogul Les Grossman, who lived up to his fiery reputation by pushing popular actors like Will Smith and Michael Cera down some surprising new career paths. One such idea was "Bad Ass Cops," a police-themed action adventure starring "Twilight" leading men Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.

But Grossman's time in the spotlight was quickly yanked away by host Aziz Ansari, who followed up with some segments of his own, including one that put him in the tragic shoes of Claireece "Precious" Jones. The host finally took the stage thanks to an introduction made by music sensation Justin Bieber, prompting Ansari to launch into an opening comedy act that set the tone for the rest of the hilarious evening.

Part of Ansari's monologue dwelled on the pervasive popularity of "Twilight," a notion that was decisively affirmed when Kristen Stewart kicked off the awards portion of the show by winning Best Female Performance for her portrayal of Bella Swan in the supernatural-romance franchise. Even the award for Breakthrough Performance went to Anna Kendrick, who won for "Up in the Air" but got her break in the "Twilight Saga." Presenters and "Get Him to the Greek" co-stars Jonah Hill and Russell Brand embarked on an epic Team Jacob vs. Team Edward debate that left Sean "Diddy" Combs fully confused.

That wasn't the only hilarious moment from the "Greek" stars, as Hill and Brand engaged in a full-on lip-locking assault during a special Kiss Cam segment that also claimed Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. But the most memorable kiss of the evening belonged to Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson, as they shared a quick smooch during Bullock's acceptance of the Generation Award.

Indeed, Bullock's acceptance speech was one of the highlights of the evening, marking her first major public appearance since news broke of husband Jesse James' infidelity. To that end, Bullock wanted to clear the air on certain rumors: She is not dead, everyone has cellulite "not just me," and paparazzi photographers need more flattering lenses. Taking a more serious tone, Bullock emphasized that even in light of her Generation Award, something that typically goes to "old people" as they wind down their careers, as she put it, she has no plans of leaving the spotlight.

"No matter what you might have heard or read lately, I love what I do, and I'm not going anywhere," she said, adding that everyone in the audience should say a prayer for those affected by the oil spill in the Gulf.

Her emotional speech was matched only by "The Hangover" actor Ken Jeong's own acceptance of the Best WTF Moment award. Jeong broke down in tears recounting his wife's battle with breast cancer. "She taught me that life is short and you shouldn't be afraid to take chances," the choked-up Jeong announced, happily revealing that his wife has been cancer-free for two years now.

Beyond Bullock and Jeong's heartfelt speeches, the show featured some very different but no less intense moments, thanks to performances of Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg's "California Gurls," Christina Aguilera's medley of songs from her upcoming album Bionic (complete with a glowing heart on her underwear) and the return of Les Grossman in a shockingly well-choreographed dance number opposite Jennifer Lopez.

But the biggest laughs of the night came from Team Aziz. The host provided viewers with a terrific "Human Giant" reunion alongside Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer in a sketch titled "Stunt Kidz." He also appeared as Taavon, a tough-as-nails swagger coach (who can only sit on purple chairs) hired to impart swagger tips to comedian Zach Galifianakis, an effort that paid off, as the "Hangover" comedian ultimately won the award for Best Comedic Performance. Ansari as Taavon accepted the award on Galifianakis' behalf.

Ansari also paved the way for one of the most foulmouthed Movie Awards in the ceremony's history. Following Bullock's acknowledgement of the oil spill in the Gulf region, Ansari wildly shouted "f--- you, BP" numerous times as he sang an R. Kelly-style tribute to "Avatar." But his filthy language paled in comparison to Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell's, as the stars of "The Other Guys" dangled from the theater's ceiling, frantically cursing at their situation.

The incessant swearing of the show's many guests didn't go unnoticed by actor Peter Facinelli. While accepting the Best Movie award for "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," Carlisle Cullen dropped some F-bombs of his own and two of them managed to slip past the censors, to the surprise of many.

Less surprising, to Ansari at least, was the virtual awards sweep made by "New Moon." The host may have over-exaggerated by declaring that " 'Twilight' won everything," but the franchise's second installment did emerge as the evening's greatest winner with victories in the Best Movie, Best Male Performance, Best Female Performance, Best Kiss and Global Star categories. "The Hangover" was the second most successful film with wins for Best Comedic Performance and Best WTF Moment, while "Avatar" walked away without a single award to its name.

After reports surfaced that Jon and Kate Plus 8 star Jon Gosselin introduced a girlfriend to his children for the first time, there were several who found the decision bothersome. One person who found it drastic was of course, his ex-wife Kate Gosselin.

The Jon and Kate Plus 8 matriarch was recently a guest on NBC's Today show, where she revealed how difficult it is for her to explain the situation to the kids. The divorce was tough enough, but it got worse with Jon Gosselin bringing home strangers.

"Jon's decisions remain his decisions and it's just for me to help the kids deal with it. It's hard. They come home and I have to discuss things with them," Kate Gosselin said. "They ask me questions where his girlfriends are concerned. It's just a situation that I have to deal with with them."

The appearance of Ellen Ross, Jon's current girlfriend, certainly was a surprise to the Gosselin brood. One can only imagine how the mother of eight has to point out and sift through the details of it all, especially since the Jon and Kate Plus 8 dad has had several female friends since the separation.

As for Kate Gosselin, she still hasn't tried to date like he has. "I don't feel like it's time. I feel like my kids need so much of me that I need to be there with them," she explained.

While she isn't too keen on doing so, her children, trying to understand the situation, usually tell her that she should find someone already. "Personally, I don't feel ready move forward," Kate Gosselin announced.

"At some point I'm sure that I will. The kids even talk about it, they bring it up. They wonder am I going to get married again and all of those things. I'm open and I talk to them about it."

Millions of fans spent the past decade feverishly devouring "Harry Potter" books and movies, even as they longed for answers to the many lingering questions: What is Harry's fate? Who will live and who dies? What will happen between Ron and Hermione? Now, with the final two "Potter" films on their way, one of the series' stars, Tom Felton, provided some insight at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards about another pressing question: What will it be like to say goodbye?

"I had my last day shooting three days ago," revealed Felton, known onscreen as Draco Malfoy. "So the blond hair is gone."

Before heading into the Gibson Amphitheatre to collect his award for Best Villain, Felton dropped an even bigger bombshell. His girlfriend, "Potter" stunt assistant Jade Olivia, will have an acting cameo in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."

"This is an exclusive for you — she is, yes," Felton told MTV News. "The producers came to me about six months ago, and I said, 'OK, I'll ask her.' She was at first reluctant, but I pulled her arm and twisted it. She was filming with me for three days at King's Cross [railway station in the U.K.]; we were very excited."

Olivia and Felton appear alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and other castmembers in an epilogue that depicts the "Potter" stars after the "Deathly Hallows" films have concluded. "She plays my wife, Astoria Malfoy; we have a kid together," Felton said. "It was all very rush, rush. So yeah, we were married for three days. It was fun."

"It gave me a chance to see what she's going to look like in 19 years," Felton joked. "And if that's what she looks like, I'm doing pretty well for myself," he laughed, commenting on the makeup work. "But I look terrible. The years have not been kind to me in the slightest. But what can I do? I've gotta just roll with it."

"It's amazing," he said of the epilogue. "I don't want to drop too many hints, but Rupert, Daniel, Emma, they all look fantastic. There's lots to look forward to."

Fans, of course, can look forward to the unveiling of "Deathly Hallows" beginning in November. Part two of the split-for-cinema sequel hits theaters in July 2011. But as for Felton and his gal-pal, the anticipation of the films paled in comparison to the thrill of attending the 2010 MTV Movie Awards.

"I've never been here," Felton explained. "This is my first American awards show, period. And MTV is my life, man. I grew up with this stuff. So to be here is a massive honor, let alone to be nominated."

"It's a sad thing," Felton said of saying goodbye to the " "Potter" franchise. "But it was also exciting, and what a way to end it — to come and celebrate it here."

The trustee liquidating Marc Dreier’s assets is fighting a bid by the Ponzi-scheme operator’s ex-wife to have her $7.1 million domestic support claim elevated above the trustee’s already-reduced fees.

Chapter 7 trustee Salvatore LaMonica says bankruptcy laws peg his fee request above “any claim Elisa Dreier could be entitled to.” Not to mention the fact that he’s already written her a check for about $106,000, which LaMonica says is “conspicuously absent” from Dreier’s request. The trustee added that he’s been more than generous in his treatment of Elisa Dreier, whose divorce was finalized in 2008.

“It should also be noted that throughout this case the trustee has made every effort to assist Elisa Dreier in this very difficult circumstance, to include, for example arranging for the estate’s release of certain real and personal property, allowing access for her and her family to retrieve personal property from the real properties, and assisting in the transfer of the utilities for the West Hampton real property,” LaMonica said in bankruptcy-court papers filed Friday.

With her husband now beginning his 20-year prison sentence, Elisa Dreier had argued, this could be the only chance for her and her two children (who are 17 and 20) to collect on obligations under her divorce agreement with Marc Dreier.

But the trustee says the divorce agreement doesn’t cover future domestic support obligations, just those incurred before the involuntary bankruptcy proceeding Marc Dreier’s creditors pushed him into last year. That’s the check LaMonica already wrote Elisa Dreier.

“Nowhere in the very lengthy 106-page divorce settlement does it provide for acceleration of the entire future support amount in the event of default,” said LaMonica, who is now awaiting court approval of his requested $273,000 in fees and $3,700 in expenses–about half of what he’s entitled to under bankruptcy laws.

If you ever get the opportunity to meet Ray Allen, he's a down-to-earth, humble, class act. Some may consider that a rarity in the NBA. However, you shouldn't let that demeanor fool you, as Allen can be deadly from 3-point range. The guy who is also known as "Jesus Shuttlesworth" from the Spike Lee produced film "He Got Game" went off tonight, setting a record in the NBA Finals Lakers Celtics Game 2. With Allen en fuego, the Celtics managed to take the game in Los Angeles and now get to head home for three.

Speaking of three, that's the record Allen set. He was pure fire from beyond the arc, hitting eight three pointers in the game. With 4:42 to go in the 3rd quarter, Allen official broke the record. It was one he previously shared with two former Finals stars - Scottie Pippen (Chicago) and Kenny Smith (Houston).

Ray Allen finished the night with 32 points. Add in an impressive triple double performance by Rajon Rondo and that was enough to take a game in LA against Kobe and the Lakers. Los Angeles had a 3 point lead in the fourth, but Rajon Rondo's triple doub propelled Boston. The Boston PG had 19 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists to help the effort. For LA, it was Pau Gasol with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 6 blocks. Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum each finished with 21 in the losing effort.

Thanks to Allen, Rondo and company it was a final score of 103-94 Celtics over the Lakers. The NBA Finals 2010 series is now tied at 1-1 and Beantown is ready for a three game homestand where the Celtics could potentially win the series with 3 straight, or have a serious advantage

Resident "mega mogul" Les Grossman has been working overtime the last few weeks. First, he helped MTV promote the Movie Awards with three terrific and twisted promo spots. Then, Grossman, who was revealed to be "the producer of this year's MTV Movie Awards," helped kick off the awards show with a special intro video. And third, he brought the house down with a showstopping musical number with two VIP guests. If anyone deserves a special Movie Awards shout-out, it's Grossman.

The intro vid kicked off with Grossman's trademark booty-shaking, after which he announced to viewers his professional mantra: "Movies are a marriage of picture and sound. My job is to get them drunk and to f---, and the illegitimate baby they make is called entertainment."

Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner are then revealed to be standing in the room, looking annoyed to be back listening to Grossman's drawn-out speeches. The "Twilight" stars ask why they're there, to which Grossman answers: "Two words." And his assistant finishes: "Bad Ass Cops." Cut to a spoof action movie trailer, in which Pattinson, toting a blazing gun and sporting a ridiculous blond handlebar moustache, says to the camera, "Somebody ask for a light?" To which Lautner, with a similar 'stache, aviators and a faux leather jacket, adds, "It's time to whip up some trouble!" and cracks a whip.

Other highlights include Grossman's purchase of "Matching Michael Cera bookends," with the camera panning over to a dejected-looking Cera holding a stack of books. "I want to go home," Cera pleads.

And in a particularly profound teaching moment with Jaden Smith and his father, Will Smith, Grossman and his assistant get in a few "Fresh Prince" and "Parents Just Don't Understand" jabs, but young Smith gets the last word when the two engage in a brief karate fight. Jaden "finishes it" and breaks Grossman's arm. Finally, he ends the bit by equating the awards show to a piece of coal he'd shoved up his rear end and miraculously turned into a diamond ... "Enjoy my two-hour sh--," Smith says.

Grossman's best moment came when he graced the actual Gibson theater stage at the Movie Awards. The mastermind took to center stage, mike in hand, and called out for his buddy, rapper Ludacris, to sing his familiar song "Get Back."

Grossman then joined a group of female dancers for a little impromptu dancing, heavy on the booty-shaking and suggestive moves. Roughly a minute into the song, the tune switched to J.Lo's "Get Right," at which point Jennifer Lopez herself waltzed onto the stage to dance with Grossman. The twosome showed off some practiced choreography, complete with an impressive use of canes, and for the big finish, Grossman dropped down into a half split maneuver and popped back up.

The return of "Tropic Thunder's" hairy, foulmouthed movie producer Les Grossman in the opening pre-taped sequence of this year's MTV Movie Awards was a highlight for Tom Cruise, who really comes to life under all that latex. The local high school class of 2010 — 43 graduates — is eligible for up to $286,923 in scholarships, Acting Principal Dawn Estes announced to an estimated 800 persons in the Cougars Den gym at the 19th commencement Thursday night.

That excluded a special one-time grant from Google of five laptop computers to Math Department Chair Brenda Biesler, seniors Jorge Valdez and Paige Lemelin, junior Kay Van and sophomore Timothy Marecki.

Estes said former Principal Dick Edwards received the letter in January, but the computers didn’t arrive until after he retired in mid-March. It was the first in 16 years without Edwards on the stage as principal and emcee. He said he wanted the June graduation to be focused on the graduates.

The grand scholarship total includes $130,000 in Nevada Millennium grants of up to $10,000 each to attend any of Nevada’s eight colleges.

The largest single scholarship, $49,248, plus a $1,200 signing bonus, went to Cody Snee for joining the United States Army.

Other honors included the top 10 percent academically of the class, National Honor Society membership, advanced diplomas, honors diplomas and career-technical education seals.

Joining valedictorian Jennifer Brown and salutatorian Brittany Chase in the top 10 percent were Kimberly Benavides and Brittany Lee.

Honors diplomas went to Benavides, Brown and Chase for having a 3.5 or higher GPA and passing at least 12 credits in honors courses.

Senior Class President Jorgen Davidson, Timothy Glansbeek, Kirstin Larkey, Lee and Lemelin received advanced degrees for having at least a 3.25 unweighted GPA and earned an additional 1.5 or more credits in the arts and humanities or career-technical education.

A career-technical education gold seal required four semesters of related prescribed vocational classes, a standard Sam Arellano, Stephen Freedle, Michael Johnson, Kurtis Langstraat, Larkey, Zach Sesulka, Joshua Sindelar, Snee and Dustin Stofa met.

Valedictorian Brown began with the famous Julius Caesar comment, the Latin phrase “veni, vidi, vici,” or “I came, I saw, I conquered.” She said it described the way life worked, just as her first day of high school when she stumbled and rolled down the bleachers in Tony Petrik’s physical education class. She went on to win a letter in three sports three years in a row, in addition to some in her freshman year.

In high school she faced obstacles, where she said, “You conquer and move on. I haven’t done this alone, not by any means.” She credited her parents, friends, classmates and teachers. “We, together, have conquered things over and over again,” and thanked them as she looked to future challenges.

This led to her conclusion of “venimus, vidimus, vicimus” or “we came, we saw, we conquered” so far in her young life.

Salutatorian Chase spoke first. Her theme was that Thursday was the first day of the rest of the graduates’ lives, explaining what it meant to her as she looked to her future.

She thanked those in the armed forces, whom she plans to join after earning her bachelor’s degree, enrolling in an Air Force ROTC program. “God bless them for what they have given for us. We need to not waste this gift given to us. We must strive forward to give back to and guard these freedoms for future generations.”

Chase then related a story about a high-wire walker and a man he invited to ride in a wheelbarrow on a tightrope, concluding that when things — and they will — get that scary, “you’ll have to decide whether or not to get into the wheelbarrow... and when that time comes, I hope you will swallow your fear and get into the wheelbarrow.”

White was one of the evening's hottest trends. From Paris Hilton to "Jersey Shore" star Vinny Guadagnino, many opted for ivory, but no one did it better than Vanessa Hudgens, who flaunted a gauzy Jenny Packham minidress with silver jewels below the bust. The "Beastly" star let her frock take center stage, accessorizing sparsely with metallic peep-toe pumps and a simple silver necklace.

"Up in the Air" actress and Breakout Star winner Anna Kendrick went the opposite route — a completely colorful low-cut black, red and pink floral Zac Posen dress finished with sky-high banded black pumps and her locks in beachy waves.

While Anna was all feminine flirt, "Iron Man 2" star Scarlett Johansson chose sleek sophistication in a forest green belted Dolce & Gabbana lace shift dress and black pumps. She also showed off one of her newest accessories: her newly dyed blond locks.

Another blond looking absolutely fabulous was "The City" star Whitney Port, who simply glowed in a sunny form-fitting yellow-and-gray strapless dress and silver mesh peep-toe pumps.

Federal prosecutors said that Chahine was a Hezbollah supporter and had helped Prouty obtain her illegal U.S. citizenship when she first came to the States. Both her sister and her brother-in-law have been linked to the terrorist group Hezbollah.

She was also accused of taking classified information about Detroit-based Hezbollah investigation.

Many reports on Prouty are sympathetic to her cause. However, the Justice Department is standing by the original charges against her.

It's difficult to like "The Hard Times of RJ Berger." I said difficult because if I said hard I would be as guilty of juvenile innuendo as the people responsible for this blatant ripoff of HBO's "Hung."

Lifting someone else's idea is not reason in itself to put down "The Hard Times of RJ Berger." This happens all the time in TV.

MTV's attempt at risque comedy falls short in so many other areas. The writing could have come from a remedial high school freshman English class.

The performances by an ensemble of unknowns is the caliber of the show's setting: high school.

Most of all, a comedy has an obligation to be funny. There isn't a scene that is even mildly amusing — unless you're 12.

Paul Iacono has the title role, a 10th grader who, in his own words, is "scrawny, weird looking and awkward," a lethal combination in high school. But RJ has a unique trait. He is frighteningly well endowed.

When RJ's asset becomes common knowledge, his standing at school shifts from outcast to legend. Girls who would evict him from their lunch table suddenly vie for his attention.

This includes RJ's fantasy woman, Jenny Swanson, who would be a knockout on a college campus. Why not? Amber Lancaster, who plays her, will be 30 in September.

Amber's sudden interest in RJ has geeky classmate Lily Miran in a rage. She has been stalking RJ as a nerdy equal with whom she has a shot. Lily (Kara Taitz) fits this show. She makes no attempt at subtlety. Her wardrobe includes a T-shirt with RJ's picture, surrounded by "I Want U Inside Me."

The most objectionable aspect of this show is the only viewers who might find it entertaining are the ones too young to be watching it.

Wearing a black, sequined micromini with a slashed back, "The Blind Side" star received a standing ovation as she accepted the Generation Award - MTV's version of a lifetime achievement honor.

"Is that an award for old people who have extended their welcome and should make nice and leave so someone new can come in?" Bullock asked. "Because that's not gonna happen. I'm staying," she said to cheers.

Finding humor in the horror of her hubby's sex scandal, the 45-year-old actress declared she's checked out of heartbreak hotel.

Johansson, who helped present the award, asked "Miss Congeniality" for a liplock like the one she gave Merle Streep at the Critics' Choice Movie Awards in January.

After accommodating Johansson, Bullock said, "Now that we have done that, can we please go back to normal, because therapy is really expensive."

Bullock's dreamy life took a nightmarish turn in March when just days after winning the Academy Award for Best Actress, she was hit with heartbreak when her husband, motorcycle mechanic Jesse James, was exposed as a serial cheater.

Bullock avoided the red carpet before Sunday night's show, sneaking into the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City through a back door. But once on stage, she set the crowd at ease.

"Go back to making fun of me. I don't care," said Bullock who adopted a child, Louis Bardo, from New Orleans in April.

Betty White, 88, was the first to oblige: "Sandy you are a national treasure, which I know a thing or two about since my ovaries were recently named historic monuments."

On the season premiere of Kate Plus 8, Kate Gosselin takes her eight children to Discovery Cove in Orlando, Florida.

Discovery Cove is a featured amusement park that has plenty of activities for families. Seaworld, Aquatica, and Busch Gardens Tampa are some of the popular sites at the vacation stop. Kate Gosselin was looking to provide the most enjoyable vacation for her kids.

As for a Kate Plus 8 review of the show, it is clear that it has grown tremendously popular, as seen by the frequency of advertisement popups. Kate Gosselin also threw out several sales pitches, a clear indication that the show is now a marketing channel.

The season opener featured Kate Gosselin raving about how excited she was to be back and how the kids were happy as well. It seemed that the show involved more hype than anything else, and a few sales pitches for Discovery Cove in Orlando, Florida were also mentioned. With Kate Plus 8 back on television, expect more advertisers and some of the vacation spots, such as Discovery Cove, to take advantage of the prime television slot.

The movie opens with a high school prom where Kathy is crowned the prom queen and John is crowned the prom king. We have a feeling things are about to get a whole lot more complicated for this couple soon…

In the bathroom after being crowned prom queen, Kathy is told by a jealous classmate that her life has peaked and she will be nowhere a year from now. The jealous classmate claims that John will leave her and she will be alone.

John promises Kathy after a walk together outside of prom that he will not forget her when he goes to Harvard and they both profess their love to each other.

Over the summer Kathy finds out she’s pregnant and tells John. After discussing their options the couple decides to keep the baby that Kathy is 8 weeks pregnant with.

John’s mom talks to him and says he shouldn’t give up his dreams of going to Harvard. But will he be able to do that and be a father at the same time? John and Kathy get married and they make a plan to go to Harvard together and live in student housing and raise the baby together. And a few months later, off they go!

They move into their new home in Boston near Harvard. Once there, John learns that if he doesn’t pass his classes he may have his scholarship pulled because of his new marital status. On top of going to school and spending time with family, John has a job at the Harvard book store. Kathy gets a job as a bank teller to help support the family also.

While doing the laundry, Kathy finds John’s calculus test, and he got a D. Remember, he has to pass all of his classes to keep his scholarship. John apologizes for not telling Kathy the truth about the test and she tells him he is setting the bar too high.

Now it’s Christmas and Kathy and John are having some difficulties. Kathy wants to spend more time together, but John is really stressed out and busy between school and having to work all the time to make money for their growing family.

At a Christmas party John gets pulled aside by his teacher, who tells him that he flunked the final. However, the teacher has decided to pass him in the class with a D, but urges him to avoid calculus next semester.

Kathy goes into labor and they have a super cute baby boy – aww we love this movie! They name the baby Adam.

Even though his calculous teacher and the Dean tell John that he should drop calculus, he refuses. His character is so strong through everything he is going through, between taking care of the baby, working at the bookstore and going to school, not to mention, Kathy is taking Aaron home for a week to visit her family while John continues his hectic schedule in Boston.

Kathy gets back from visiting home and she seems really stressed out. And it doesn’t help that John isn’t doing well at calculus this time around either.

Uh oh. Kathy and John get in a fight because Kathy doesn’t want to be there anymore because she didn’t develop the bond with Adam that John did. Kathy says she made a huge mistake and she wants to go home and leave Adam with John.

This is so sad. Kathy’s bus pulls away and we now see John taking care of Adam, going to school, and time out, how cute is this baby! Awww!

John begins using a tutor for his calculus class. But will he be able to raise his grade?

John loses his student housing after Kathy moves back home, so he and Adam begin apartment hunting. They find a room for rent at a psychic’s home, Dorothy. Things finally seem like they’re looking up for John, until he is forced to bring Adam with him to a test – but instead of getting mad when Adam begins crying, the teacher asks the class to sing “The Wheels On The Bus” to put Adam back to sleep. Precious.

We love that even though Adam doesn’t always believe in himself in his circumstances, his loved ones all do. He has an amazing support team!

That is, until Kathy stops picking up or returning John’s phone calls. John starts to cry and we automatically get tears in our eyes – best to watch this movie with a tissue box!

John gets called into to the Dean’s office, but for what? Turns out the Dean saw John and Adam in the drug store when John was buying medicine when Adam was sick. The Dean says she realizes that she was wrong to judge him and that she now sees how deeply he loves his son. She says there is an honor in getting an F in calculus because he put his child first. She gives him a bit more flexibility in his schooling and a second chance. Honestly, as soon as Drew Seeley tears up so do we!!

Three years later we see John graduating while the Dean looks on. Aww, Adam is so old now! The crowd gives them a standing ovation as the two of them receive their diploma.

This was the cutest movie ever, and we love that it was inspired by a true story. Did you watch?

Team Foreman, like seemingly everyone else, gave Cotto the Mark Twain treatment heading in to the tussle, exaggerating his demise. But we saw from minute one that Cotto's legs were bouncy, he held the weight at 154 well, and his punches had snap.

"It was a lot of pain, it was very sharp," Foreman, 29, said of the balky knee. "I didn't want it to stop, I wanted it to continue. I'm a world champion, now a former world champion. I'm not just quitting. We need to fight."

Foreman will get the knee checked out, thinking there might be ligament damage. He said he had a similar injury as a kid in Israel but didn't have health insurance, so he never had it correctly diagnosed.

Promoter Bob Arum said if the injury is bad, Foreman will need to do rehab and will come back against sub-Cotto-level competition.

With the loss, Foreman's cred doesn't dip that much. He showed grit, fighting on a bum knee, and started to trade with Cotto when the Puerto Rican's power shots sapped his ability to keep up the constant movement. From the opening bell, the 29-year-old Cotto's power edge stood out. His jab buzzed the Brooklyner, and his counter left hooks had Foreman fighting to keep his equilibrium several times.

Foreman's best round was the fourth; he appeared to be getting his range. But though he made Cotto miss, he didn't make the now-four-time-titlist pay. Foreman's movement was too often without purpose. His jab needed to be an offensive weapon, as the rest of his arsenal won't make anyone cringe in fear, let along Cotto, who's faced men with chainsaws for fists and kept coming forward.

Cotto, after the ludicrous delay for the "mystery towel" incident, finished the job with a left hook to the body. The loser -- who said after, "Thank God for keeping us both healthy, more or less," winning points for perspective -- needed to be busier to convince the judges that his brand of boxing was better. Scott “Scooter” Braun, 29, was arrested on 24 March by Third Squad detectives and charged with one count of reckless conduct in the 2nd degree and one count of 2nd degree criminal discomfort. He may face a year in prison if convicted.
Rice said the November 20, 2009, Bieber was scheduled to sign autographs at a clothing store, Justice, in the Roosevelt Field Mall, 4-6 pm The event was coordinated by Bieber’s record label, Island Def Jam Music Group (part of Universal Music Group), Tween Brands, Simon Property Group, Allied Barton Security and Braun.
To get an autograph, participants were instructed to stand in line in a garage in the south where the event was scheduled. Around 1:30 pm, more than 3,000 people had gathered in the garage, and 2,000 more were expected. Police received 911 calls during that time to warn of the dangerous situation in the garage and people who could be “trampled.” Justin Bieber arrested is just a bad joke.
Nassau police and mall security decided that for public safety, the event should be canceled and reported it to Vice President of Island Def Jam, James Ropp, who was in charge of the event and the crowd. Ropp was arrested in November 2009 for his role in the incident.
Despite the announcements of the police that the event was canceled, a certain amount of the crowd left the garage and went upstairs where the Justice store. They joined a crowd had already gathered on the second floor. At this time, school classes were over and the crowd grew even more. The small area outside the store and serve food area were dangerously overcrowded.People were pressed against the windows of businesses attached to Justice. There was also the danger that the glass and metal railings on the second floor hallway to give in to the crowd, mostly children, and fall to the first floor. The police also was concerned that people are trampled or crushed. People in the crowd kept calling 911 about hazardous conditions. Justin Bieber arrested is a rumor that nobody agrees.
Despite trying to cancel the event, police were hampered in their efforts to desegregate the crowd for a Twitter message from the account of Bieber, fans saying “I’m coming to Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island, New York to sign and meet fans! See you there. ”
It was then that the police asked to send a Tweet Ropp from Bieber’s account, telling the fans that the event was canceled and that they should leave the mall. Ropp was also instructed Bieber that he does not come to the mall. Employees of Island Def Jam Braun contacted to send the Tweet. When he spent an hour the crowd was still there and no Tweet was sent a promotional person that Island Def Jam had the password for the account tried to send the tweet of the cancellation but could not because Braun changed the account password so he could control the event.
Using your Ropp, police Braun contacted and informed about the dangerous situation in the mall. Despite previous communications with the staff of Island Def Jam, Braun lied to police and said it was the first time I heard about the problem. When police asked him to send the Tweet, he refused saying he was “a meeting in Manhattan without access to a computer.” When police told him he could be arrested, Braun asked the police to make sure to spell your name correctly in the warrant.
When police Ropp placed under arrest, Braun Ropp called asking him to send the tweet. Braun then sent two Tweets at about 4:30 and 4:33 pm., An hour and a half after the first request of the police to send the tweet. 15 minutes after the Tweets sent informing fans that the event was canceled and asking them to leave the mall, the crowd dispersed.
“Mr. Braun prefaced his selfish desire for publicity over public safety and put themselves in danger to fans who went to see his client, as well as others who were incidentally in the mall that day,” Rice said. ”Refusing to send the cancellation by Tweet and prevent others from doing so, he clearly ignored the police and threatened thousands of innocent people. It was only through rapid and efficient work of the police department a horrible disaster was averted.

Google has once again surpassed themselves with their latest search page Doodle. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of legendary game Pacman, Google has provided a free game which can be played straight from the homepage.

By simply pressing the ‘Insert Coin’ button next to Google Search, you can play a game of pacman and join millions of others re-living their childhood.

What was the highest level that you got to? I only managed to get to level three, but I’m sure you did a lot better. Hopefully the Google Pacman Doodle stays up all day so you can try to beat your best level.

Google celebrates Pac Man 30th anniversary with icon game. 30 years ago, Pac Man was created and became perhaps one of the most addictive games ever developed. Installed in a large video game box, Pac Man became the favorite after-school and at times during school time-waster, and in online form it still is.

Google proved that today with its' installation of a "logo-based" Pac Man game placed where the standard Google logo is located on its page. This blogger tried the game several times and did not do well simply because the cursor that you would assume was to control the Pac Man failed to do so. The result was that I was absorbed every time.

I thought it was the fault of the Apple Safari Browser's memory leak problem, which does make sense given the fact that the cursor was working some of the time, but not all of the time. And in Pac Man, time is really important.

Of course, posting a YouTube video of my failure gained comments of advice. Apparently I was supposed to work the 'page up, page down' keys, which I did do and gained more success than what's on the video screen.

Rats!

Well, you can see how much fun Pac Man can be to play. No wonder it's lasted 30 years!

The ninth season of the Biggest Loser is just a week away from its finale on 25th May 2010. After 18 weeks till 18th May 2010, Tuesday only four contestants Ashley Johnston, 27, Daris George, 25, Koli Palu, 29 and Michael Ventrella, 30 remain on the show fighting for the $250,000 prize amount.

The official website and other sources report that the 18th week on the Biggest Loser has all the four contestants sent their homes for 30 days. After the time period, all of them are contacted by Alison through scale monitor and informs them about the next challenge to run a marathon on foot.

Ashley and Michael decide to run the marathon together. Koli goes to Las Vegas and gets a martial arts trainer to get in shape for the challenge.

Daris is the best marathon runner breaking last season’s Tara’s record with a time of 4hours 6minutes. Koli finishes second with a little more than 6 hours. The other two finishes sometimes later.

At the weigh-in, Michael loses the most with a 23pounds drop. Ashley loses 15 pounds. Koli loses 13 and it is less than what he had lost last week. Daris, shockingly, gains 2pounds! While the first two contestants remain at the top, the last two are below the yellow line.

By now you're probably really want to know who got voted off DWTS tonight. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Chad Ochocinco, who got kicked off last night. Every once in a while a man comes along who is so sick and perverted that his name gets wrote in history. Gary Leon Ridgway is one of those men. Ridgway is better known as the Green River killer, a man that terrorized prostitutes and teenage runaways in and around the Green River, Washington area.

Ridgway was born in 1949 and had a difficult childhood. He was tested with an IQ of 82 at an early age, and at sixteen, Gary stabbed a six year old boy. “I always wondered what it would feel like to kill someone.” Ridgway said as he walked away from the boy, laughing. The young boy survived the attack.

After high school, Gary fought at Vietnam on a Navy Patrol Boat. When he came back from Nam is when he began his career of killing women. It is believed to have started in 1982 and lasted up to possibly 2001.

He would lure prostitutes and young runaways into his vehicle, make them feel comfortable, have sex with them, and then strangle them. After he was done with the body, Ridgway would throw it into the woods. To confuse the police, he would contaminate the dump site with cigarettes and gum. That tactic kept him out of jail for twenty years.

During the 80’s, the Green River Task Force was established. In 1984, Gary Ridgway was given a polygraph test, which he passed. It wouldn’t be until November 30, 2001, when Ridgway was arrested for his heinous crimes.

Almost two years later the Green River Killer entered a guilty plea to forty eight charges of aggravated first degree murder. He accepted a plea bargain to keep him from receiving the death penalty. To keep him from being executed, Ridgway had to show authorities where the remains of his victims could be found.

A month later on December 18, 2003 Gary Leon Ridgway was sentenced by Judge Richard Jones to forty eight life sentences with no possibility of parole. During interviews after his sentencing, Ridgway, confessed to killing seventy one women. He also stated that he had sex with them before and after he killed them.

The Green River Killer is currently serving his time inside the walls of the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla, Washington. Also incarcerated there is another American Serial Killer by the name of Kenneth Bianchi, better known as the Hillside Strangler.

The Watcher was skeptical when news of “Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains” broke.

After all, part of the the reason for its existence was for the production team to save money by using the same site for two seasons. And the original “Survivor: All-Stars” season had been a flop, with several players giving half-hearted performances and a pre-arranged alliance removing much of the strategic play.

But Heroes vs. Villains has been everything we had hoped the first season would be, with big-time players locking horns, fluid alliances and game-changing plays at Tribal Council.

The game ends tonight with the usual three-hour extravaganza on CBS: a double episode starting at 8 p.m. followed by the final vote count and reunion episode at 10.

There will be three Tribal Councils: the first two will seat the final jurors, and the last will choose the winner from the Final Three.

This is the point where the Watcher typically would assess the chances of the remaining five – Colby Donaldson, Jerri Manthey, Paravati Shallow, Russell Hantz and Sandra Diaz-Twine – but my ability to analyze has been poisoned by the highly accurate pre-season spoilers.

I will say that Survivors 21 and 22 will take place in Nicaragua. Next fall should feature all new players. The fast-spreading rumor about season 22 is that it will be built around the theme “second chances,” featuring popular returning players who didn’t get far in their original seasons.

Obama is set to sign the Daniel Pearl Freedom of Press Act into law, after it was passed unanimously by the Senate last week. According to JTA.org, this law “mandates the State Department to identify countries in which there are violations of press freedom; determine whether the government authorities of those countries participate in, facilitate or condone the violations; and report the actions these governments have taken to preserve the safety and independence of the media and ensure the prosecution of those who attack or murder journalists.”

Unfortunately, it’s too late to help Daniel Pearl, who was decapitated by extremist Islamics in 2001 while investigating al-Qaida financial networks abroad. But his father, mother, wife and son who was born three months after Pearl was murdered.

“Violators of press freedom throughout the world now know that they will be closely watched,” Pearl’s father, Judea, said before leaving Los Angeles for Washington. “This is something our son Danny fought for all his life.”

In a White House statement, President Obama said last year was a bad year for press freedom due to the fact that more media workers “were killed for their work last year than any year in recent history.”

“In this year, like in other years, nearly three out of four of the journalists killed were local news-gatherers who were murdered in their own nations.”

The Daniel Pearl Freedom of Press law seeks to make it safer for the media to gather and report the truth.

“In many parts of the world, the freedom of the press is the last – or even the only – safeguard against the complete erosion of all human rights,” said Senator Christopher Dodd. U.S. Representative Adam Schiff also helped to get the bill passed through Congress.

After a season that was undoubtedly rocky — a rollercoaster ride through a mix of good and bad storylines — the minds behind Desperate Housewives managed to put together a season finale that was rather action-packed and full of drama. Just look at the major storylines: a twist-ending bomb, a baby delivered by a serial killer, and a major move off of Wisteria Lane. Now, my fellow Desperate TV Watchers, that's a season finale.

But before we get to all that, what I loved most about last night's goodbye to season 6 was the delicious setup it gave to season 7, potentially making the next year one of the series' best. Two huge storylines were put into motion, and they seem like good ones. First, we've got a baby switch coming on the Lane this fall. Specifically, last night, an old nurse at Fairview Memorial, Teresa Pruitt, confessed on her deathbed that there'd been a baby switch on her watch. We weren't given any clues to work with about who it was, besides the news that it's someone on Wistera Lane, natch.

Now, the Desperate producers could take this storyline in one of two directions. It could concern a switch between a child of the main housewives and someone random — or, with the potential to be much juicier, a switch between two children of the main housewives. I was thinking about whose kids are around the same age and sex and wasn't coming up with much. I had the thought, however, that this seemingly random storyline could have something to do with next season's other big storyline — the return of Mary Alice's husband Paul. See, do you all remember their creepy son Zach? Could it be that, maybe, Andrew and Zach were switched at birth? I have a feeling that the baby switch has something to do with Zach or Paul. Actually it must — otherwise, it just won't be as interesting.

But anyway, the second storyline for next season — Paul's return — should be good. That the producers are dipping back into stories from earlier seasons is a good sign — mostly because those seasons were much better than the last couple. I say, let's bring some of that yesteryear magic back! Paul moving in clarified why Susan and Mike and MJ had to move off of the lane — mostly so that Mary Alice's husband would have somewhere to live. Although it's not exactly clear about why, for story purposes, Paul needed Susan and Mike's house specifically. Couldn't the producers have just created a new house on the Lane for him to live in and left Susan and Mike there? I'm betting there's a sick and twisted reason why Paul needed that house, and we'll find out more about that come September. Also, bringing Paul back means that the delightfully nasty Felicia might also make a return appearance. Which: Yes! Love her.

Diaz-Twine ("Pearl Islands"), who never won a physical challenge, maneuvered into the final three after her catty alliance on the villains tribe had been previously dismantled by partners Shallow ("Cook Islands," "Micronesia") and Hantz ("Samoa").

"If she can win the game twice, there is a flaw in the game," a disgruntled Hantz said.

The lone hero left standing, 35-year-old former rancher Colby Donaldson ("Australian Outback," "All-Stars"), was quickly dispatched to the jury by the four villains at the beginning of the finale when the proud Texan failed to win immunity. Donaldson didn't go without a fight. After delivering a surrender speech, he haggled to be saved by Hantz.

"I've never quit anything in my life," said Donaldson, "so when the time was right, I made one more attempt."

Hantz won the final immunity challenge, which required the final four to navigate blindfolded through a maze. Hantz, Shallow and Diaz-Twine picked off 38-year-old original "Survivor" villainess Jerri Manthey ("The Australian Outback," "All-Stars"), securing themselves a spot in the final three. However, Hantz received no votes from the nine-person jury.

"I do what I can do," said Hantz, "and I make it to the end every time."

Hantz and runner-up Shallow, who has played "Survivor" a record 114 days, dominated the good-versus-evil edition by winning physical challenges, playing hidden immunity idols and coordinating the dismissals of some of the strongest players, such as "Boston" Rob Mariano ("Marquesas," "All-Stars") and Rupert Boneham ("Pearl Islands," "All-Stars").

"I like going out being called one of the heroes," said Boneham during a reunion of the castaways.

At the end of the finale, host Jeff Probst paid tribute to Jennifer Lyon ("Palau"), who died earlier this year at the age of 37, and revealed the location for the 21st season: Nicaragua. Unlike "Heroes vs. Villains," the fifth installment to feature former contestants, Probst teased that "Survivor: Nicaragua" would star "a brand-new set of survivors."

Fifty-one of the most beautiful women took the stage for the 2010 Miss USA Pageant.

Brianne Randle was in Las Vegas for all the excitement.

The lucky ladies came from all across the country to Planet Hollywood - to compete for the crown, including Hawaii's own Renee Mokihana Nobriga.

Twenty-six-year-old Nobriga captured the state title as Miss Hawaii USA in November 2009.

The North Shore native and Kahuku High School graduate worked hard for the title, winning second runner-up, then first runner-up last year before taking home the win.

In her case the third time's a charm.

And Nobriga is not one to shy away from the camera. Since age 16, the 5'8" model hit the covers and pages of Honolulu Magazines in ads for some of the top clothing designers.

Now she had her eyes fixed on capturing the crown as Miss USA 2010.

The Aloha state has brought home the title of Miss USA four times - and Nobriga hoped to make it five.

But the title went to Miss Michigan Rima Fakih, who was crowned Miss USA 2010. Still, Nobriga had a dozen people on-hand cheering her on, and many more fans back home in Hawaii.

who won survivor heroes vs villains

Here we are, gang. The final episode of the 20th season of "Survivor." The showdown between the Heroes and Villains comes down to a final five dominated by the evil side. Let's jump right in, shall we?

Post-Tribal
After an extensive video montage of the whole season (seriously, that thing took like 7 minutes), the final five are back at camp. Russell has his panties in a twist about Sandra not telling him about her Idol. He's so full of it sometimes. He and Sandra aren't aligned by anything more than the title of "Villain." Like she owes you anything, dude.

The problem with Russell is that he's uber-clever and sneaky, but at the same time his anal-retentive, control-freak nature coupled with his Napoleon complex makes him kind of a lunatic when things don't go his way. I bet as a child he laid down and pounded his fists on the ground a lot when he didn't get his way.

No sooner have I typed that does Parvati compare him to a two-year-old who stomps his feet when his toy gets taken away. Hee!

Crab. Lizard. Dramatic music.

The next morning, they get puzzle pieces with tree mail that talks about steady hands and losing control and dishes. Parvati remembers it from "Survivor: China." Russell talking-heads that if Colby wins, the best move is to get rid of Parvati. He's convinced that he'll win if it's him, Sandra and Jerri at the top. That's a sound argument because neither of them played as hard as Russell or Parvati, but it will prove to be false logic on Russell's part.

Immunity Challenge
Stacking dishes on a wobbly arm. The first person to drop is Sandra, which actually surprises me. Man, she sucks at challenges. Like, really bad. At the 14-dish mark, Jerri is out. After 16 dishes, Russell is out. After the next dish, Colby drops and Parvati wins. Well, this next tribal ought not to have any suspense, no matter how hard the editors work at making it look like there is.

Colby to "Survivor": I wish I could quit you
They come back from the challenge and Colby gives a nice speech about how he made his play, he didn't win the challenge and he knows he's going home. He then interviews that he can't quit on "Survivor," so he's going to make one more attempt at staying.

So Colby talks to Russell, saying they should get rid of Sandra tonight so that he, Russell and Jerri have a best chance of beating Parvati in the last challenge. That's actually a good argument to use on Russell, but he knows that taking Colby another day might let him win the final challenge and that if Colby is in the Top 3, he'll win. So I don't think Russell will go for it.

Tribal Council
Jeff talks to Colby about how tough it was. Colby actually seems more engaged this episode than he has been all season, which is weird. Colby tells Sandra he loves her to death, but that everybody wants to sit next to her in the finals. That will also turn out to be dramatically false. There's some other jibber-jabber about trust, it's really not that interesting.

The vote goes Colby, Sandra, Colby, and Colby. No surprises there. Love ya, Donaldson, but you weren't that fun to watch this season. His exit speech is about how sad he is to be a crusty old veteran who can't win challenges. Awww, that's so sad!

Post-Tribal II
Jerri and Russell are convinced that if she wins the last Immunity, Parvati will win the money. That is good logic in my mind, she's the biggest threat right now.

Stupid Idol walk
I hate this. It's dumb. I understand about filler, but my lord is this silly. They aren't DEAD! They aren't "fallen comrades." They're either at home or hanging out at the Ponderosa. Geez louise.

Final Challenge
The Survivors are doing a maze while blindfolded. There are guideposts along the way to point you to the stations where you pick up your necklace. Man, these guideposts are interesting. I mean, this is like braille! What a cool challenge.

Parvati keeps banging into things and yelling out "OW!" in a very funny manner, I enjoy that. Russell and Parvati find their four necklaces first and are racing for the finish. Jerri quickly gets hers as well, so they are all trying to find their way out. It comes down to a very close race, with all of them so close to the pole. Russell nabs the final Immunity necklace just inches from Parvati and Jerri getting it.

They are all laughing and Jerri's like, "That was fun!" I love to see that. Meanwhile, downer Sandra is like, "That was awful." Sorry lady, but don't get your negativity all over the rest of us just because you suck at challenges. Seriously, I think Sandra's a smart lady, but I think she does ride coattails a bit and her track record in challenges is embarrassing.

Post-Challenge
Jerri is sure that Parvati is going home now that Russell won Immunity. Russell knows he's taking Sandra for sure, because he thinks only Courtney will vote for her and he'll win. Russell assures Jerri it's Parvati going and that Parvati thinks it's Jerri who is going.

So Russell and Parvati go on a walk and he says he wants Sandra with them in Final 3. Parvati says Sandra instantly gets Amanda, Candice and Courtney. Man, Parvati looks like a genius in hindsight. Russell is sure Parvati can't beat either him or Sandra, which I think is very false logic. She's been a beast in challenges, she's strategic and she's fairly likable too. In hindsight, I can't believe Parvati didn't win, honestly.

Tribal Council
There's some talk about the important decision about who to take to the finals -- who has friends, who doesn't, who you can beat, who will potentially vote for you, who you know WON'T vote for you, etc.

Interestingly, in talking about making her case, Parvati says she protected Russell and if he was going to show any loyalty at all, he'd keep her. He balks at the "protecting" comment because he's a control freak misogynist and God forbid Parvati did anything worthwhile for him. Geez.

During the vote, we see Parvati vote for Jerri and vice versa and that is it. The votes go Parvati, Jerri, Jerri and Jerri. That surprises me a bit, that Russell showed loyalty to Parvati. I wouldn't have taken her. No way.

Post-Tribal III
There's a feast and Russell is pretty excited about getting to the end twice. Well, so did the others. And they both won before. If I were him, that'd be one of my biggest arguments. He says that Parvati has a lot of enemies and Sandra didn't do anything.

When Russell walks off, Sandra throws his hat in the fire. Well, that's not very nice but he burned people's socks, so whatevs.

Tribal Council
Sandra's opening statement is all about how she played by herself. Russell's is about playing hard and he apologizes for offending them. Parvati's is about her need to align with Russell the dragon as a way to protect herself and how she played the ultimate strategic, social and physical game.

Colby asks about strategic plays from Parvati. She says her big one was when she played the two Idols. Just btw, the camera cuts to Amanda, who looks about 60 years old with her makeup troweled on like that. Coach doesn't ask a question, he just pontificates about himself while masking it as his speech about the Final Three. He says Russell should've been penitent, Sandra is a coattail-rider and that Parvati is a warrior. He then takes his seat. God, he is so full of himself. Put him a room and let him talk to himself all day long, he'll be perfectly happy.

Amanda asks Sandra about strategy and she says her strategy should've been better because then Russell wouldn't have been sitting here. Courtney points out that Sandra is loyal 100% and Sandra jumps right on that.

J.T. points out that Russell is good at getting to the end, but maybe not getting their votes. Russell says that everybody on the jury will respect his game because they've played the game before. Parvati says the difference between herself and Sandra is that Sandra is a sleeper who doesn't try that hard in challenges, so nobody thought about targeting her.

Danielle asks Russell if he'd change anything about his game and he says no because there's no way he'd be here. She tries to get him to say it, but he won't and she says, "That's too bad." Man, she's a little snotty. He can be comfortable with the way he played the game.

Jerri wants to know why Russell flipped from voting out Parvati to voting out Jerri. He says he was worried that she'd get votes because the Jury loves her. Parvati then says the real reason is that he knew he'd have her vote from the Jury. Jerri then points out that Sandra isn't that loyal because she (Jerri) still got blindsided.

Candice says that you can tell lies in the game, but that Russell told dirty lies and hurt people. She then says that Parvati was under Russell's thumb like a spouse in an abusive relationship. So for her it comes down to how you treat people and you can tell she's voting for Sandra.

And finally Rupert. He says to Russell that being honest in this game is hard and to be a manipulative, deceiving, lying person is the easy way out and that he shouldn't be proud of himself. He then apologizes to Sandra for not going with her to get Russell out. He then tells Parvati that she's a strong player but that he hates she aligned with Russell. He does give her credit for fighting and says that she and Sandra deserve the votes.

We see some of the votes -- Jerri votes for Parvati, Candice for Sandra, Danielle for Parvati, Courtney for Sandra, Coach for Parvati, Rupert for Sandra. J.T., Colby and Amanda's votes are hidden. What is weird is that I would've bet J.T. and Colby would've voted for Parvati because they value her game play AND strength in challenges, but Sandra ends up winning. I don't get it.

Candice's comments about Sandra as she votes are annoying because A) She's bitter and B) that has nothing to do with "Survivor." You voted for Sandra because you like her and don't like the others. That is crap. The motto is "Outwit, outplay, outlast," not "Make friends." Coach says something about King Arthur's journey ending and I'm like, "What is WRONG with him?" He is such a weirdo.

The votes go Parvati, Sandra, Parvati, Sandra, Parvati, Sandra, Sandra and then Sandra wins. That really surprises me, honestly. I mean, normally someone well-liked but someone who ALSO played a good game wins. I think Parvati combines the scheming of Russell with the niceness of Sandra and adds in the bonus of winning Immunity. I don't get how she lost.

Russell is a big baby. I'll admit, I enjoy watching him on "Survivor" but there is no need to be such a poor sport when you lose.
I have to say -- I feel like Russell must get a VERY charitable edit by this show. At the reunion, the hatred for him was thinly-veiled at best. Yet he has won the Sprint Player of the Season for both seasons he has played. Which says to me the viewers love (what they see of) him and the actual people who experience "Survivor" with him DO NOT like him.

How cute is Boston Rob and Amber's baby Lucia Rose? Seriously.
Dumbest Move in Survivor -- I'd still give it to Erik. And I don't think Colby should've nominated. That wasn't the smartest move, but it was a cool move and not as completely dumb as the others ones.

Puerto Rico Earthquake 2010: Puerto Rico was struck by a 5.7-magnitude earthquake early morning today, according to the United States Geological Survey.

Reports say that the USGS has detected the city of Moca as the epicenter of the earthquake.

Some areas of the city reportedly lost power, but it was restored within a shot span of time.

There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries

Wikipedia strikes again. This time the victim was legendary heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio. When someone posted a Wikipedia update that Dio had died from his battle with cancer. A few media outlets reported the news Saturday, despite it not having come from a credible source.
The good news is that Ronnie James Dio has not died. His wife/manager Wendy Dio posted the following message on Twitter early Sunday morning, "Don't believe the rumors, Ronnie is still hanging in there!!!"

Blabbermouth contacted Wendy and received a little more information. She told the site, ""I am at the hospital and Ronnie has NOT passed away!!!! He is not doing good, but he is not dead."

We will keep an eye on this story as it develops. We're sure we are joined by the metal community in hoping that Dio's "not doing good" status changes for the better.

Hopefully we'll have more information for Monday's Day in Rock.

At today's preakness Stakes, more than 25,000 Black Eyed Susans (drinks) will be served. The alcoholic beverage is named for the race that is named for the blanket of flowers placed onto the winning horse.

If you'd like to make your own Black Eyed Susans, the cocktail recipes follow. Serve them up with some barbecue or even just some burgers on the grill. Your guests will drink them up in true race track style.

Black Eyed Susan Drink Recipe:

1/2 ounce Brandy

1/2 ounce white creme de menthe

2 ounces Mandarine Napoleon Orange Liqueur

Place ingredients inside a shaker half filled with ice cubes. Shake and serve in a chilled glass.

Tomorrow is the 2010 Aids Walk New York, where New Yorkers will mark 25 years of raising money for care, prevention, services and support of people with AIDS.

Helping to fund the Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC) one goal of the 25th anniversary is to re-ignite HIV/AIDS awareness and to heighten the understanding that one individual can make a difference.

Last year's AIDS Walk New York raised $5.6 million for HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and advocacy programs.

GMHC is a nonprofit that "fights to end the AIDS epidemic and uplift the lives of all affected." Through the AIDS Walk New York and its long list of celebrity supporters including Whoopi Goldberg, Hilary Duff, Alec Baldwin, Nathan Lane, Jon Stewart, Cyndi Lauper, Patti LaBelle, and Harvey Fierstein, GMHC "proudly strides its way into a quarter century of giving back, lifting up and taking in those who need it."

The 10k (6.2 mile) walk starts at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 16, in Central Park at 59th and 5th Avenue. Register or donate here. Registration begins at 8:30, followed by an opening ceremony featuring Governor David Patterson, comedian Leslie Jordan from the sitcom Will and Grace, and a number of other dignitaries.

I'm always happy to support organizations like the 2010 AIDS Walk New York, as I have known several people throughout the years who have been directly impacted by AIDS. I believe we should all do our part to help others, and organizations like this not only help those afflicted; they also educate to help prevent others from becoming afflicted with AIDS.

At first it looked like Villasenor had a chance considering his boxing pedigree against the seasoned BJJ champion. But as the fight went on it looked like Jocare Souza even had a better stand up game than the boxer. He was actually able to knock him down with a knee at one point. Souza also dominated Villasenor on the ground. Villasenor had a chance to end the fight on the third round but Souza’s instincts was too great and he was able to recover by taking him down and wearing out Villasenor.

Results: Souza defeats Villasenor via unanimous decision.

Friday's sentencing of confessed double murderer John Albert Gardner III was one step in the healing process for families of slain North County teens Chelsea King and Amber Dubois.

It also provided a degree of closure for those in San Diego County and beyond who ever said a prayer for the abducted girls, scoured a remote hillside for them or hugged their own children tighter after hearing the tragic stories.

"I think the entire community has been going through the process of grieving," said Diane Peabody, an acquaintance of Chelsea's from Poway High School, who gathered with scores of other King and Dubois family supporters at the courthouse in downtown San Diego for the sentencing.

Gardner, 31, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

"I think for a lot of people it (the sentencing) will be closure," Peabody added, clutching a sunflower and calla lily, the favorite flowers of Chelsea and Amber, respectively.

"Or at least a step toward closure," interjected Diane's mother, Debbie Peabody, standing outside the courthouse. "It's still very much an open wound for a lot of people."

Many of the families' close friends attended Friday's sentencing. Many had searched for the teens along hundreds of rural roadways and posted fliers throughout the region after the teens were abducted.

Some wore T-shirts and buttons with Chelsea's and Amber's images and joined the families inside the courtroom during the sentencing.

"Hopefully it gives them peace," Joe Peters of Carlsbad said of the sentencing. Peters, a friend of Amber's family, helped train those who looked for Amber.

He added of the sentencing: "Hopefully it would also serve to remind the community again to take care of their children ... because there's people like John Gardner still out there."

Gardner abducted Amber on Feb. 13, 2009, while the 14-year-old was walking to Escondido High School. Her skeletal remains were found 13 months later in a remote area near Pala. Gardner took Chelsea on Feb. 25 while the 17-year-old was running near Lake Hodges. Her body was found March 3 in a shallow grave near the lake.

Others drawn downtown Friday included complete strangers who share a tragic bond with Chelsea's and Amber's families.

"We just wanted to give them some support ---- we know what they're going through," said Melina Sellers, whose 9-year-old son, Jonathan, was taken, molested and murdered in Chula Vista in 1993 by Scott Thomas Erskine.

She stood in line outside the courtroom with Maria Keever, whose 13-year-old son, Charlie, was also murdered by Erskine.

Erskine was convicted of the murders in 2004. He remains on death row, Sellers said.

Both women said they relived their own pain upon learning of Amber's and Chelsea's tragic ends.

"I feel like it's us (suffering) again every day," Keever said.

Each said they wanted to see justice for the two girls.

While numerous law enforcement officials attended Friday's sentencing, and have noted in the past the toll they've experienced working on the cases, none would comment publicly. They said they plan to speak Monday.

Officials at Poway High School and Escondido High School, Chelsea's and Amber's respective schools, said students would not watch Friday's sentencing live at the school. Poway High Principal Scott Fisher said such viewing would upset the students. With finals starting next week at Escondido High, academics was the priority, a spokeswoman for the school said.

Far from the quiet suburban schools, more than 30 people sat in a courthouse overflow room transfixed by the emotional sentencing. Only seven seats were made available to the general public inside the courtroom, because of the many family friends, law enforcement and media representatives who reserved space there.

Several inside the overflow room sobbed as videos of the teens played. A few cheered at the blistering statements the families directed at Gardner. Laughter exploded after Candice Moncayo, who was assaulted by Gardner but got away by hitting the murderer in the nose, asked "How's your nose?"

Seated in the overflow room, Karen Mann said she, too, relived her own personal nightmare ---- she said she was raped by two men in Carlsbad 36 years ago ---- while following the sad stories of Amber and Chelsea.

This show about young models portrays the cut-throat and competitive world of high fashion. Starring Mischa Barton, Corbin Bleu, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Nico Tortorella, and Elle Macpherson, it was the first casualty of the 2009-10 season. The drama had poor ratings and was pulled after two episodes. The series’ five episodes have been posted officially on YouTube.

Ben 10: Alien Force (Cartoon Network)
The animated series is ending after three seasons and 46 episodes. Fans have no reason to worry though, it’ll be replaced by Ben 10: Evolution later this year.

Better Off Ted (ABC)
In truth, ABC probably shouldn’t have given this comedy a second season. Though love it, the series has never caught on with a mass audience. Season two’s ratings were terrible so it won’t be coming back for season three. ABC still has two unaired episodes.

The Bill Engvall Show (TBS)
Comic Bill Engvall plays a family counselor who can’t always figure out his own crazy family. The rest of the sitcom cast includes Nancy Travis, Jennifer Lawrence, Graham Patrick Martin, Skyler Gisondo, and Tim Meadows. The series was cancelled after three seasons and 30 episodes due to a decline in ratings.

Bill Moyers Journal (PBS)
The weekly news program originally ran from 1972 until 1976 and then from 1979 until 1981. Moyers revived the show again in 2007. In November 2009, he announced that he would be retiring from the program as of April 30, 2010.

Blonde Charity Mafia (CW)
This docu-series revolves around a trio of influential young women in Washington, DC. It was initially developed for Lifetime before moving to CW. After delaying its airing, the network has decided to cancel their plans to broadcast it at all. The show may be sold to another outlet.

The Bonnie Hunt Show (syndicated)
This talk show has been on the air for two seasons but hasn’t been a big ratings winner in the competitive daytime market. The distributor decided to cancel it though original programs will continue to be produced until June.

Brotherhood (Showtime)
A gritty drama about two Irish-American brothers; a politician (Jason Clarke) and a thug (Jason Isaacs). Others in the cast include Kevin Chapman, Annabeth Gish, Fiona C. Erickson, Brian Scannell, Kerry O’Malley, Fionnula Flanagan, Madison Garland, and Billy Smith. After three years, Showtime opted not to continue the series. The news broke when the third season was released on DVD as “The Final Season.”

Brothers (FOX)
This sitcom about a former NFL star and his paraplegic brother struggled on Friday nights and then didn’t do any better on Sundays. All 13 episodes aired before the end of 2009 and FOX later decided to cancel it.

The Cleaner (A&E)
This series revolves around a recovering drug addict who helps others beat their own addictions. The drama stars Benjamin Bratt, Brett DelBuono, Liliana Mumy, Grace Park, Esteban Powell, Amy Price-Francis, and Kevin Michael Richardson. The series ended after two seasons and 26 episodes.

Defying Gravity (ABC)
A group of eight astronauts undertake a mysterious space mission. The sci-fi drama stars Andrew Airlie, Christina Cox, Zahf Paroo, Ron Livingston, Laura Harris, Karen LeBlanc, William C. Vaughan, Malik Yoba, Paula Garces, Florentine Lahme, Eyal Podell, Dylan Taylor, Ty Olsson, Maxim Roy, Peter Howitt, and Lara Gilchrist. ABC aired only seven episodes. The network maintained that they would air the five remaining episodes at a later date but that seems highly unlikely. The sets have been destroyed and the series creator has confirmed the show is finished.

Dollhouse (FOX)
The Joss Whedon series follows a group of people who have their personalities wiped and replaced with other personas for projects-for-hire. Despite low ratings, the series was renewed for a second season but the numbers fell too low for a third year. The show was cancelled and the last episode aired on January 29, 2010.

Eastwick (ABC)
Three women (Rebecca Romijn, Lindsay Price, and Jaime Ray Newman) discover that they have supernatural powers once a handsome stranger (Paul Gross) comes to town. ECW (Syfy)
Syfy’s professional wrestling program ran for four seasons and 193 episodes before going off the air. It was replaced by WWE NXT.

This drama started out strong in the ratings but viewership kept dropping. Then, ABC put it on hiatus (in part because of the Olympics) and things got even worse. No season two.

Flight of the Conchords (HBO)
A unique comedy and music series, this show follows fictionalized versions of Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. After two seasons, they decided to call it quits but may return in a special.

The Goode Family (ABC)
An animated sitcom about an overly politically-correct and dysfunctional family that stars the voices of Mike Judge, Brian Doyle Murray, Dave Herman, Linda Cardellini, and Nancy Carell. ABC cancelled the series in August after running all of the episodes. Comedy Central later picked up the series and, if it performs well, a second season could be commissioned.

The Great American Road Trip (NBC)
This reality show pitted families against one another as they travelled across the country in motor homes. The show quickly ran out of gas and was cancelled after one season of eight episodes.

Guiding Light (CBS)

Here Come the Newlyweds (NBC)
This reality series sought to educate just-married couples by having them take care of babies, toddlers, and senior citizens. It lasted two seasons.

Heroes (NBC)
After seasons of declining ratings, the peacock network has pulled the plug. There are plans in the works to wrap up the series with an event of some kind.

The Hills (MTV)
After six seasons, the reality show is coming to a close. It’s a safe be that we haven’t seen the last of the cast however.

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! (NBC)
The peacock network revived this ABC reality series that puts a group of “celebrities” in a jungle and makes them compete in challenges. It wasn’t a success in many ways and won’t be back.

The Jay Leno Show (NBC)
The network wanted to save money by running cheaper programming five nights a week at 10pm. The official line was that they were pleased with the results but the local affiliate stations, whose newscasts were losing viewers as a result, weren’t. As a result, Leno’s show ended in February and he returned to the Tonight Show on March 1st.

The Jeff Dunham Show (Comedy Central)
The ventriloquist’s show got off to a solid start but the ratings quickly dropped. The series was cancelled after one season but the cable channel intends to stay in business with Dunham.

Joe Buck Live (HBO)
This sports talk show got off to a tough start when Artie Lange essentially hijacked the first episode. Three episodes aired and there won’t be a fourth. Buck is in talks to do a similar show for Fox Sports.

Jon & Kate Plus Eight (TLC)
The marriage of Jon and Kate Gosselin fell apart and so did the show’s chances for a sixth season. it was planned to continue the series without Jon, as Kate Plus Eight, but it didn’t happen.

Kings (NBC)
Ian McShane headlines this series about a fictional version of the United States that’s ruled by an absolute monarchy. The rest of the impressive cast includes Christopher Egan, Allison Miller, Susanna Thompson, Macaulay Culkin, Sebastian Stan, Eamonn Walker, Dylan Baker, and Wes Studi. An expensive program to produce, the series didn’t attract many viewers. All 13 episodes were aired.

Law & Order (NBC)
This venerable crime drama was poised to surpass Gunsmoke as the longest-running primetime drama in US history. Unfortunately NBC and Dick Wolf couldn’t come to an agreement and the show is ending after 20 seasons.

Legend of the Seeker (Syndicated)
This fantasy series ran for two seasons before the Tribune stations opted not to renew their contract. ABC Studios, which produces the show, tried to find stations to take their place but was unsuccessful. One of the producers and one of the stars have confirmed that it’s dead.

Lincoln Heights (ABC Family)
After four seasons, the story of Officer Eddie Sutton and his family came to a close. The show’s ratings had dropped and the cable channel opted not to bring it back for another year.

The Listener (NBC)
Craig Olejnik stars as a young paramedic who has the ability to listen to other people’s thoughts. Others in the cast include Enis Esmer, Colm Feore, Lisa Marcos, Mylene Robic, Anthony Lemke, Paulino Nunes. NBC pulled the series after eight episodes but all 13 were shown online and in Canada. NBC has cancelled the show but it’s been renewed in Canada. The producers hope to find another outlet in the US.

Lost (ABC)
What began as a “simple” plane crash story has become into one of the most unforgettable series in television history. The large ensemble cast includes Matthew Fox, Naveen Andrews, Jorge Garcia, Josh Holloway, Daniel Dae Kim, Yunjin Kim, Evangeline Lilly, and Terry O’Quinn. It was announced in 2007 that the show would end after six seasons.

Mental (FOX)
This series got off to a slow start last summer and the ratings didn’t get better for subsequent episodes. FOX opted to cancel the show after all of the episodes had aired.

Mercy (NBC)
It looked like this medical drama was going to easily outperform fellow freshman series Trauma. Unfortunately Mercy couldn’t hold onto its audience and both shows have been cancelled.

Monk (USA)
Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub) is a police detective whose brilliance is only limited by his obsessive-compulsive disorders. Other series regulars have included Bitty Schram, Traylor Howard, Ted Levine, and Jason Gray-Stanford. Monk ended after eight seasons and 125 episodes.

More to Love (FOX)
From the creator of The Bachelor, this dating series attempted to match up a bachelor up with a plus-sized mate. It lasted nine episodes and one season.

Nip/Tuck (FX)
A show that revolves around plastic surgeons, the series concluded after 100 episodes and seven seasons. The last episode aired on March 3rd. Petition link.

Past Life (FOX)
This drama about a team that try to help people by uncovering past life traumas didn’t make it beyond three episodes before being pulled and cancelled. There are plans to air the remaining episodes this summer.

The Philanthropist (NBC)
A billionaire playboy (James Purefoy) decides to use his wealth and influence to change the lives of others. He’s assisted by his best friend (Jesse L. Martin) and his friend’s wife (Neve Campbell). NBC aired all eight episodes but received low ratings. Though the network hasn’t admitted that it’s been cancelled, a “Complete Series” DVD was released in January 2010.

Raising the Bar (TNT)
A group of former legal students reunite at a law firm and in the the courtroom, often on opposite sides. The series features Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Gloria Reuben, Currie Graham, Melissa Sagemiller, J. August Richards, Jonathan Scarfe, Teddy Sears, and Jane Kaczmarek. Ratings were strong for the premiere but quickly fell off and went too low to warrant a third season.

Reno 911! (Comedy Central)
This is a satirical program that follows a fictitious police department in Reno, Nevada. Over the past 88 episodes, the ensemble cast has included Cedric Yarbrough, Niecy Nash, Robert Ben Garant, Thomas Lennon, Kerri Kenney, Carlos Alazraqui, Wendi McLendon-Covey. After six seasons, Comedy Central decided to call it quits.

Rita Rocks (Lifetime)
In this sitcom, Nicole Sullivan stars as an over-stressed mom who manages to find time to play in a local rock band. It lasted two seasons and 40 episodes.

Robin Hood (2006) (BBC)
A retelling of the classic legend that stars Jonas Armstrong, Lucy Griffiths, Richard Armitage, David Harewood, Keith Allen, Gordon Kennedy, Sam Troughton, Joe Armstrong, Lara Pulver, and Harry Lloyd. It was announced in August 2008 that Armstrong, who plays the title character, would be leaving the show after three seasons. A creative revamp was considered but a fourth season wasn’t ordered.

Ruby & the Rockits (ABC Family)
A teenage girl (Alexa Vega) tracks down her lounge singer father (David Cassidy) and the two move in with her uncle (Patrick Cassidy) and his family (Katie A. Keane, Austin Butler, and Kurt Doss). The series started out strong but ratings declined. ABC Family opted not to order a second season but all 10 episodes aired.

The Sarah Silverman Program (Comedy Central)
Season three almost didn’t happen because of money issues. When the show finally returned, the ratings were poor. Sarah and her pals won’t be back for season four.

Saving Grace (TNT)
A hard-living detective, played by Holly Hunter, is set to solver her final case. The series is scheduled to end after four seasons on June 21, 2010.

Scrubs (ABC)
Though Zack Braff and others left last season, ABC wanted to keep it going so they’d have more episodes for the lucrative syndication package. The ratings for the “med school” version were terrible.

The Superstars (ABC)
The reality competition series paired celebrities with top athletes and pitted them against other teams. The ratings were terrible and the network even bumped the finale for a rerun of The Bachelorette.

Surviving Suburbia (ABC)
A family sitcom that centers around a grumpy dad (Bob Saget), his family (Cynthia Stevenson, Jared Kusnitz, and G. Hannelius), and his sleazy friend (Jere Burns). The show had a decent start following Dancing with the Stars but fell apart on its own. All 13 episodes of season one aired and the show was cancelled.

Three Rivers (CBS)

The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien (NBC)
The peacock network wasn’t seeing the ratings that it expected and wanted to push Tonight to 12:05am so that a half-hour Jay Leno show could air at 11:35pm. O’Brien wouldn’t do it so the show was ended and he left the network, presumably to start a new late night show elsewhere.

Trauma (NBC)
This San Francisco-based drama revolves around a group of brave first responders. The show struggled in the ratings from the start and NBC initially decided not to order any episodes beyond the initial 13 installments. They later changed their minds and ordered more. New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson was calling in to a radio show recently to congratulate defensive tackle La'Roi Glover for being chosen the NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

"Thank you, Mr. Benson, " Glover said. "And thank for you for Norman Hand."

In the first season of the five-year, $20 million contract that Benson gave Hand during the free-agency period, he is returning big dividends.

Talk to Glover about the reasons the Saints lead the league in defense and Glover's personal accolades, and No. 1 is having Hand alongside him.

"Almost every time I've been in on a tackle, he's done something to make it possible, " Glover said. "He eats up so many blocks that allows myself and others to make plays.

"I've never been around a more unselfish player."

Others have noticed, too.

"He's the heartbeat of that defensive line."

Of course, it's hard not to notice Hand.

At 6 feet 3, 320 pounds (10 more than his program weight) Hand fills a lot of space, whether he's on the line of scrimmage or in line for a meal (teammates call him "Heavy Lunch").

But Hand is no former Green Bay Packer Gilbert Brown-like immobile blob. He can play sideline-to-sideline and frequently this season has run down ball carriers. He also drops into pass coverage in some of the blitz packages. In an exhibition game at Minnesota on Sept. 5, Hand had enough energy at the end of a 13-play Viking drive to jump up at and block a pass to preserve a goal-line stand.

And while few would consider Hand light on his feet, his first sack of the season last week at Atlanta produced his own personal dance move.

Getting one-on-one blocking, Hand blew past Falcons center Todd McClure and engulfed quarterback Chris Chandler, making sure Chandler felt his full weight as they fell to the Georgia Dome turf.

Hand then engaged in an arm-waving, body-shimming celebration he capped off with a salute of sorts as he dropped to his knees.

"The Falcons have the Dirty Bird, so I wanted to do something for our fans, " Hand said. "So I wiggled the jelly a little bit for them. I'm calling it 'The Dirty Hand.' "

Moves like that are making the affable Hand popular with fans.

He already is a hit with teammates and coaches. They admire him for his work ethic and for his leadership.

"I think he's the first guy here every morning, " Saints coach Jim Haslett said. "On game days, he's probably dressed by 7 o'clock.

"Our only question when we signed him was about his weight, and he's in great condition. Norman Hand has been very good for this football team."

Said Glover: "Norman has worked his butt off every day since he's been here.

"We always study film together, and learn from each other. He's taking a lot of the double teams that I was getting last year, or he makes the other team pass protect, so that they get fewer guys out in the routes."

And Hand, who spent the past three years at San Diego after starting his career at Miami, likes the atmosphere.

"I haven't been around a winning atmosphere like this in a long time, " he said. "It's fun to come to work. You see a lot of professionals on the team like Willie Roaf and Kyle Turley and Jerry Fontenot, who have been through the wars, who are always joking around and making sure nobody's uptight."

At the same time, Hand is serious about earning his money.

"When you're a high free agent, you don't want to come in and lay an egg, " he said. "You want to show the people that you're worth every penny the Saints spent.

"There's a lot of pressure on me. The Saints have had a lot of free agents that didn't work out, so I take this as a personal challenge to play my best."

Last week's game was Hand's best to date with the Saints.

The Falcons tried double-teaming Glover more than other opponents, and the result was five tackles for Hand -- his most in the team's three-game winning streak. That gave Hand 31 stops for the season, which is eight more than Glover.

There are other things Hand does that do not always show up in the statistics, such as forcing his blockers into the backfield, setting up ballcarriers for others to make the tackle. In the Falcons game, rookie guard Travis Claridge was flagged twice for holding Hand.

"Nose tackle is the best position on the team, " Hand said. "You're in the middle of everything on every play, just grabbing and banging.

"You don't win every battle, but it you blow up that center or guard enough, you'll make a difference."

Today, Hand figures to be in a lot of battles with Gruttadauria, who also was an offseason free agent who started every game for the Super Bowl champion St. Louis Rams last season.

"He's a very smart guy, " Hand said. "You have to flow more with him when he's blocking you on the double team, and I can't be just trying to stand up and trying to overpower him.

"I've got to use my leverage better and go at it hard every play."

Gruttadauria, too, said he is expecting a daylong close encounter with Hand.

"I've got to play great technique because he's so mobile for his size, " Gruttadauria said. "All of the Saints linemen do a good job of tying you up, I don't know whether it's all legal or not, so that makes it hard to keep them off your quarterback or establish your running game.

"That Norman Hand though, he's quite a load."

Well, the news claims that Delonte has been banging Gloria James for quite some time now. However, there are no photos or any other audio-visual aids attached together to prove the case.

This may appear as plain media gossip for many which will vanish after some time. But there are credible reasons to investigate it. In the early 18th century, slavery was outlawed in Georgia. In 1749, George Whitefield campaigned for its legalisation, claiming that the territory would never be prosperous unless farms were able to use slave labour. Through his efforts, it was re-legalised in 1751. Whitefield became a slave owner, using them to work at his Bethesda Orphanage. To help raise money for the orphanage, he also put slaves to work at a plantation called Providence. Whitefield was known to treat his slaves well; they were reputed to be devoted to him, and he was critical of the abuse and neglect of their slaves by other owners. When Whitefield died, he bequeathed his slaves to Selina Hastings, Countess of Huntingdon.

It seems that years back, Kate Hudson began dating pop star Justin Timberlake only days after Timberlake and Diaz broke up. Hudson believes that Diaz targeted Rodriguez as a form of revenge. Rodriguez, known most commonly as 'A-Rod', seemed to once again show that his days of getting caught up in off the field controversy are behind him, hit a critical grand slam home run on Friday night and propelled the Yankees to an 8 to 4 win over the Minnesota Twins.

Disney darling Brenda Song arrived at the NYLON & YouTube Young Hollywood Party last night hand-in-hand with Trace Cyrus (a.k.a Miley's big brother).

The biggest television networks have been firing on all cylinders this week, choosing what shows to renew, what new shows to add, and what titles would be executed via cancellation.

The busiest of the powerhouse networks have been ABC and NBC, who extended and killed off some big names in their lineups. The biggest of these was easily NBC’s Heroes, which people have expected to get canceled for a long time now, but it just kept on going. There were thoughts of bringing the show, which lost its appeal by the end of the second season, back for one more closing season. Instead, NBC decided to just end the show now, but they may still do one more special finale to wrap up whatever might need wrapping up in the world of Heroes. The network also ended Law & Order (but renewed spinoff SVU) and medical dramas Mercy and Trauma.

On ABC’s side of the court, they decided to cancel a bunch of shows, including their “next Lost” hopeful, FlashForward. The show started out strong with an epic occurrence and some solid storylines, but over the course of the first season, interest was lost and the rating dwindled. Also in ABC’s line for a ride to the afterlife from the Ferryman are shows like Scrubs (which was canceled long ago but has been network jumping), Better Off Ted, and Romantically Challenged.

On to happier things: NBC has renewed fan-favorite Chuck, and ABC has renewed the up-and-down science fiction remake, V. To these shows and their currently-running hits, the networks will replaced their deceased titles with brand new ones that have hopes of becoming the next big thing.

This is just a basic round-up of of NBC and ABC’s chaotic last week — many networks are doing the same thing, and as you can see, it’s a wild time to be in the business!

According to some tabloid reports, the footage of a Pomona, California dance troupe's performance is causing quite a controversy.

Elizabeth Snead of Zap 2 It’s ‘The Dishrag’ reports that the Precision Dance team ranges in age from seven to nine. Although the girls are talented dancers, their costumes, combined with “gyrating dance moves would be better suited to someone at least old enough to get her learner’s permit,” writes Snead.

Some find nothing wrong with the girl's rendition of Beyonce’s hit. The Huffington Post reports “Age appropriate or not… it’s one heck of a performance.”

Larry Peters, executive vice president of The Hozman Group and representative for the dance competition, said the controversy was blown out of proportion. He told Popeater “There has been a great deal of controversy regarding this performance, and it has been taken out of context. It is a little sensitive now to say the least.”

Melissa Presch, the mother of one of the dancers, along with the father of another spoke to Inside Edition about the controversy and comments made about the video. Presch said "I'm shocked, quite frankly, that people would suggest such things and say such things about 8 and 9 year old girls."

Miller noted, "As a father, when you're watching your kid, no. You're looking at it as a proud kid who has really high energy, who doesn't really know what she's doing."

One of Diane Downs’ children spoke out tonight. It has been 26 years, and people did not know what happened to Diane Downs’ missing children. Rebecca Babcock was Diane Downs forth child who was born days after Downs was convicted of shooting her three children.

Diane Downs shot her three children and one of the children died. Rebecca Babcock grew up adopted just 100 miles away from Diane Downs. Her adopted parents were adamant that Rebecca not find out why she was adopted. However, when Rebecca was 8, Diane Downs escaped, and Rebecca’s parents were forced to let the school and babysitter know. At that point she found out that her mother was in jail.

Rebecca Babcock actually found out exactly what happened at age 16 when a boyfriend showed her the movie ‘Small Sacrifices’ about the story. This caused her to freak out, and she eventually became a teenage mother herself just like her birth mother Diane Downs.

Rebecca Babcock shared her story for the first time in 26 years tonight on ABC’s 20/20. You can watch the video about Diane Downs children below. What a horrible story! I feel so badly for Rebecca Babcock and what she has had to go through all these years. It would be a terrible thing to learn that your mother had shot your siblings.
